Skin issues in infants: Offer them a clean start.
A newborn goes from a safe fluid filled environment to a multitude of new and unexpected experiences. Here are just a few things to consider if you see skin issues in your infant. Looking at either an external or internal cause of skin irritation will hopefully have you label reading on formulas, detergent, lotions, or talking about the food that mom is consuming. Start them off early with the least amount of chemicals possible. Irritation from itchy skin issues puts their sensory system into a state of stress. Nurture their systems with non reactive products and foods.
Their little bodies have to process everything you put on it and in it so consider all your options.
Lotions & Creams
The skin is the largest organ of the body and will function best when treated well. The chemicals and fake fragrances in most baby lotions can be harmful to their soft skin. Recommended is Organic Coconut Oil or Mango butter.
Detergents & Chemicals
The new clothes, blankets, mattress covers, car seats and the detergent used to wash them can irritate the skin with chemicals and fragrances. Be mindful and consider making your detergent.
Food Ingredients
Whether nursing or being bottle fed, consider what is in the formula or what mom is eating when looking at why the infant is having skin issues or upset tummy.
